Vintage Midcentury Danish Brown Leather Egg Swivel Chair
This Danish, midcentury swivel chair in mid-brown leather has considerable retro charm! It has curves on all sides to give it that flowing, exaggerated ‘egg’ silhouette that’s become such a beloved, design classic. It’s in fantastic vintage condition with the original leather upholstery remaining taut to the frame and in excellent order. This chair could work as an standalone seat in a study or bedroom, or would fit in alongside other midcentury-inspired seating. Wherever it goes in the home though, it will draw comment and have everyone fighting for it. It’s an indulgent, encompassing chair, perfect for relaxing in.
Description
This original vintage chair is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good, used condition. We have thoroughly cleaned the leather and nourished it with conditioning balm. The original brown leather upholstery is in excellent order on all three cushions. The zips work (note: there is a small zip seam repair on the head-rest cushion but this is minor, stable and not visible) and the inner foams are soft and plump. The top head-rest cushion is secured in place with a hidden strip of Velcro. The fixed upholstery on main frame is in very good order. There are some minor patchy areas of colour on the curved back of the chair which you can see in our photos but these aren’t of huge concern. There are some minor scuffs and wrinkles here and there in line with the chair’s age and use but this gives the leather its desirable soft, lived-in look. There is a small tear to the finishing cloth underneath the seat cushion. This is unlikely to deteriorate further and isn’t visible. Again, we’ve shown this in our photos. The silver base and legs arfe in good order with some very small scratches but nothing to call out. The swivel mechanism moves with ease. Sadly there is no marker’s mark on the chair but it is imported directly from Denmark and dates from the 1960’s. Please do browse our photos for a good sense of the excellent order of this piece.
