Vintage Midcentury Beautility Teak Curved Sideboard

A symmetrical beauty from Beautility, British furniture makers who were hugely popular in the 1960s-1970s, creating extremely  well-made pieces with broad market appeal. That appeal endures and this sideboard is a particularly fine example of Beautility at its very best. With an unfussy, elegant design, very similar to Mckintosh’s signature midcentury style (it’s a dead ringer with those handles), this large, practical item of household furniture is softened with its curved front line and integrated long handles. Sitting in tapered legs, the teak takes centre stage with a warm tones and subtle patina. With three large drawers and two generous cupboards, it offers much storage space for the busy, modern home. A sophisticated storage solution that will mix in alongside more traditional or modern home furniture.

Description

This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in overall very good-excellent, used condition. It has been cleaned and a natural beeswax polish applied. The three central drawers are in very good order, are made with dovetail jointed and move with ease. The top drawer is sectioned for cutlery and the original green baize is sadly marked and rather scruffy but this could be removed or replaced. The two side cupboards are in very good order with hinges and closures in sound working order. One cupboard features a fixed shelf. There are marks and scuffs to the original external finish, particularly on the top surface, but these are as you might expect with vintage piece and they don’t detract from the appeal. Please refer to our photos which show this wear.  The Beautility maker’s label is affixed inside one of the doors.
