Vintage Geebro 1950s Folding Wooden School Bench
A salvaged, folding school bench, that dates from the 1950s, made by Geebro, this has loads of character! With a clever mechanism, the legs fold neatly underneath so this bench can be stowed away, making it ideal for the garden or occasional use. Equally though, it would serve you well against a kitchen dining table, perhaps with mixed chairs on one side and this bench on the other. It comes knocked and scuffed but we’ve left this wear and tear alone – it’s part of its rustic appeal in our eyes.
Description
This is an original, vintage piece that are ‘sold as seen’. It is in overall good used condition, noting that it’s a worn, utilitarian piece. We’ve lightly cleaned the bench but have otherwise left the original finish alone. The two folding mechanisms at either end are in good working order. You push a spring-loaded bar to release and lock the legs into position. As you can see in our photos, the wood is marked and scuffed but we’ve opted not to touch this – it’s part of its rustic appeal in our view. The bench is well made and sturdy in solid wood. Sadly the Geebro maker’s label is no longer in place but this was acquired with several other Geebro benches and it’s exactly the same make and model.
