Vintage Edwardian Light Oak Chest of Drawers

This refined, British-made, early 20th century chest of drawers is a beauty with unusual proportions – low, wide and not too deep. Combining elegant, thoughtful design with lots of useful storage, it’s a catch. It’s expertly crafted in a solid light oak. Its height makes it perfect for a mirror on top to use as an informal dressing table perhaps. It would also work well in a traditional, country bathroom with lots of space for towels and toiletries. The large, hanging brass handles add a fancy, feminine flourish that we love.

Description

This original, vintage piece is ‘sold as seen’. Overall, it is in very good, used condition. We have cleaned it and applied a natural beeswax polish but have otherwise left the original finish and patination alone – we believe it’s very much part of its appeal and character. All four drawers slide with ease and the interior wood is in good, clean order – there are some small marks and stains but these are minor and nothing to cause concern.  The drawers are really well-made with dovetail joints and have handsome hanging brass handles also in excellent order. Sadly we do not have the key to locks. The external wood is in very good order with just minor scuffs and knocks, in line with its age, and these are mainly on the top surface as you would expect.
