Vintage Early Midcentury Light Oak Waring & Gillow Ltd Chest of Drawers
A timeless British antique piece that would fit easily into today’s mixed-style interiors from traditional to Victorian-inspired to mid century, whether that be a dining room, a bedroom or a bathroom. Made by highly regarded furniture maker, Waring & Gillow Ltd, we believe this chest of drawers dates from Edwardian times. As you would expect, it’s a expertly crafted piece in solid oak with fine attention to detail. It’s been loved and well taken care of in its previous lives too – there are hardly any signs of wear. The light oak patina both on the front and top is unusual and beautifully marked. A practical and good-looking piece in equal measure.
Description
This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in excellent condition. We have cleaned and polished this chest of drawers. There are some very minor marks and scuffs but this is in line with its age. On the top of the piece there are two small gaps in the wood along the joins. We’ve left well alone as we don’t believe they are that problematic – they are hardly visible and it’s likely that in a warm home these would ‘seal’ again. Refer to our photos. The drawers have dovetail joints and slide in and out with ease. We can see no signs of any repairs. The maker’s plate can be found inside the top drawer along with the patent number 224089. Please refer to our photos for an accurate sense of the condition of this fine antique piece.
