Vintage Danish Vemb Polstermøbelfabrik Large Brown Leather Armchair
A particularly indulgent lounge chair for one with over-sized proportions for maximum comfort and loungability. Inspired by Borge Mogensen classic designs, this chestnut brown leather chair was made Vemb Polstermøbelfabrik, Denmark, in the 1970’s but this style never goes out of fashion. Boxy and clean-lined, it’s a handsome, masculine piece that would be perfect in an home office, reading corner, TV room or mixed in with other lounge seating. Its leather offers a practical upholstery option for the modern home as it’s easy to wipe down and it wear well. The perfect armchair for curling up on with the cat, a cuppa and a favourite book.
Description
This original vintage piece is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good-excellent, used condition. We have lightly cleaned the chair. The original brown leather upholstery is in excellent order on all four cushions. The zips are in good order and the inner foams are soft and plump. The leather is some wrinkles and marks from use but is otherwise in great condition. The fixed leather upholstery on the frame is in very good order. As you can see there is a small area on the right side where the leather a little misshapen. It looks like something is poking out but rest assured, it isn’t. The chair was taken apart when it was imported from Denmark to the UK (standard practice to enable efficient packing and ensure pieces are at the least risk of damage during transportation) and our hunch is that something came to rest against this side, pressing into the leather. Usually the leather decompresses back to its original shape when back inside a warm home but either way, it’s not hugely noticeable and we don’t feel it detracts from the appeal of the chair. The base cloth on the bottom of the chair has been removed and you can see shall remnants of it hanging down. It’s no bad thing that this is no longer there as it means we can see the maker’s label – Vemb Polstermøbelfabrik – and you can also see the chair is very well-made and in excellent order structurally inside.
