Vintage Danish Vemb Polstermøbelfabrik Large Brown Leather Armchair
A particularly indulgent lounge chair for one with over-sized proportions for maximum comfort and loungability, and with good provenance too. Inspired by Borge Mogensen’s classic designs, this chestnut brown leather chair was made Vemb Polstermøbelfabrik, Denmark, in the 1970’s but this style never goes out of fashion. Boxy, sharp and clean-lined, it’s a handsome, masculine piece that would be perfect in an home office, reading corner, TV room or mixed in with other lounge seating. Its leather offers a practical upholstery option for the modern home as it’s easy to wipe down and it wears well. The perfect armchair for curling up on with the cat, a glass of something and a favourite book.
This original vintage piece is ‘sold as seen’. It is in excellent, used condition. We have lightly cleaned the chair. The original brown leather upholstery is in excellent order on all four cushions. The zips are in good order too and the inner foams are soft and plump. The leather has some minor wrinkles and marks from use but is otherwise in great condition. The fixed leather upholstery on the frame is in very good order. The finishing cloth underneath the seat cushions is in good order as well. The black base cloth on the bottom of the chair has been removed – it tears easily and is often taken off prior to transit from Denmark. It’s no bad thing that this is no longer there as it means we can see the maker’s label – Vemb Polstermøbelfabrik – and you can also see the chair is very constructed and in excellent order structurally inside, with no signs of any damage or repair.
