Vintage Danish Skippers Mobler Brown Leather Footstool
A generous, good-looking tan leather footstool, designed and made by Swedish furniture makers, Göte Möbler Nassjö in the 1970s, its contoured shape is perfect for resting tired ankles on at just the right height. It’s in fantastic condition and its neutral colour and unfussy design means it can be partnered with any sofa or chair, regardless of style or colour. And once you’ve lounged with a footstool, there’s no going back!
Description
This original, used piece is ‘sold as seen’. It’s in very good, vintage condition. We have cleaned this footstool and applied a natural beeswax polish to the wooden frame. The original leather upholstery on the top cushion is in very good order – it’s plump, well-made and the zip underneath in good order. There are some wrinkles and slight fading to the leather but this is in line with its age and function. You can see from our photos some small ring indentations. This is where something has pressed into the leather, most likely on its journey to the UK from Denmark. This isn’t particularly noticeable and in our experience minor stretches like this fade out with time and use. The cantilever bentwood frame is also in very good order. The top cushion secures to the frame with two Velcro strips on the bas. A small section of stitching has frayed on one Velcro strip (see our photo) but this isn’t visible and once the cushion is ‘stuck’ on top, it’s secure and unlikely to deteriorate further. It doesn’t compromise the function of the stool in any way. It’s a well-made, neatly designed footstool that solid and sturdy with no movement. It has some minor marks and scuffs to the wooden frame but nothing specific to call out. The original Skippers Mobler sticker can be seen on the underside and it most likely dates from the 1970s.
