Vintage British 1960s Tall Chest of Drawers
We believe this is very fine piece of British midcentury design, possibly a piece commissioned for Heals or somewhere similar, it epitomises the form and function aesthetic of the day. This chest of drawers let’s the patina of the wood take centre stage down the front of its drawers. And we love the thoughtful placement of different wood tones seen on the top drawer and the front surround. Its considered design like this that elevates an every day, practical item to something special. Sitting on neat tapered legs that create open space around the chest of drawers, it makes a large item appear less bulky. It’s superbly crafted and of course offers much to the modern home with masses of storage space.
Description
This is an original piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in overall very good, used condition. We have cleaned it and applied a natural beeswax polish to the exterior surfaces. All seven drawers slide with ease and are in good, clean order inside. The exterior front and sides are in very good condition with only minor knocks and scuffs here and there. We’ve shown a particularly scuff on the front bottom drawer but overall it’s not particularly noticeable and certainly doesn’t detract from the appeal of the piece. The top surface carries a few more marks, primarily fading from sunlight, but again we don’t feel it detracts greatly from the piece. This chest of drawers is solid and sturdy with no wobbles or signs of repair. Sadly there is no maker’s mark but it’s a fine quality piece that we believe to be British in origin that’s superbly constructed.
