Vintage 1970s Light Oak Writing Bureau

This writing desk bureau combines practicality with neat proportions. It’s compact, so ideal for a bedroom, a quiet spot or a home where there isn’t room for a conventional desk. With book shelves below, and pigeon-hole storage at the top for hiding away work, it’s functional when needed; but when the day is done, the desk door locks shut and it’s a slimline, handsome item of vintage furniture. It’s clean, unfussy design means it won’t compete for attention with other pieces of furniture.

Description

This is an original piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in overall very good – excellent, used condition. We have cleaned the pieces and applied a natural beeswax polish but have otherwise left the original finish alone. The drop-down door creates a writing desk and it moves with ease with securely moored hinges in place. There is a key for this bureau to the top section can be locked. The interior is in excellent, tidy order, featuring pigeon holes and two small drawers. The lower section features two book shelves with glass sliding doors. Again the interior wood is in very clean tidy order as are the glass doors with slide freely. There are some minor marks and light scuffs to the external wood but nothing to call out and just as you might expect with a piece of this age and nature. It’s well-made with no wobbles or repairs.
