Vintage 1970s G Plan Sierra Cabinet

A super useful cabinet, perhaps ideal for those without the space for an expansive sideboard, this teak piece was designed by E Gomme for G Plan, as part of the ever-popular ‘Sierra’ range. You can appreciate the influence of his Scandinavian contemporaries on his design… clean lines, midcentury simplicity, form and function. It’s in tip-top original condition and gives a great deal of practical storage across its upper drawer and lower cupboard. Its height at 69cm would make this cabinet a great TV unit / media stand too.

Description

This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good – very good, used condition. We have checked, cleaned and polished this piece inside and out, applying a natural beeswax polish to the exterior wood surfaces but otherwise the finish is all original. The top drawer is beautifully made with dovetail joints. It has a sectioned interior originally designed to house cutlery. The interior wood here is clean and tidy, the drawer glides easily and the handles are secured attached. The lower cupboard features an adjustable shelf. The doors are in very good order with secure handles, and hinges and closures in good working condition. Again, the cupboard interior is clean and tidy. Overall there are some light knocks, faded patches and scuffs, primarily on the top surface (note some faint, superficial scratches in our photos) but the wear and tear is very minor and in line with what we might expect with a vintage piece of this nature and age. The unit is very well-made and the G Plan label can be seen inside the drawer. Do browse our photos for an accurate, honest sense of tone and condition.
