Vintage 1960’s Midcentury G Plan ‘Siesta’ Teak Cabinet with Drawer
British furniture maker, G Plan, made furniture that was built to last and this handsome cabinet demonstrates that. Part of G Plan’s 1960’s ‘Siesta’ range, this is a really solidly made piece of furniture, designed considering both function and looks. We love the dark wooden handles and the way the grain is used to create pattern distinction and these things characterised this particular range. With a generous, double-door cupboard that has a height adjustable shelf and a large spacious drawer divided into two, this offers really practical storage and would look at home in any room.
This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good condition. We have thoroughly cleaned and polished it. The cupboard doors align and their closures work as they should. There is a height adjustable shelf in the cupboard and the support rods are present. The large drawer opens with ease and features a central divider with a removable cutlery tray. There are some minor marks and scuffs to the wood but this is in line with its age. One the left hand side panel there is a fairly light scratch. We’ve not added a specific shot as you can see it on one of the angled photos but if you would like a close up please let us know. On detailed inspection, we noticed that the drawers handled have been repaired. A common ‘injury’ with chest of drawers is that protruding handles get knocked and damaged. We can see faint lines where the handles have been repaired but this has been done extremely well and is almost imperceptible. Refer to our close up photos for this and to get an accurate sense of the condition of this item overall. The original maker’s label is still affixed inside the drawer.
