Vintage 1960s Danish G Thams Armchair in Blue Striped Wool

A classic piece of Danish midcentury design by Georg Thams for Vejen Polstermøbelfabrik, this statement ‘Model 53’ lounge chair was made in 1960s but it has been recently reupholstered in a smart, sky blue wool with a thin, white stripe. It’s been immaculately done, bringing the chair up to date and ready for many, many more years of use. It’s an extremely comfortable sit with a sprung seat and the perfect tilt. It’s expansive, out-turned arms, wider-than-usual back and solid teak, tapered legs make this a particularly handsome lounge partner. It’s destined to become someone’s favourite chair.

Description

This an original, vintage chair that is ‘sold as seen’.  It is in excellent, used condition. The chair has been vacuumed and a natural beeswax polish applied to the teak legs. The upholstery is all fixed (so no cushions) and given the outstanding condition we believe it’s been professionally reupholstered recently. And it’s been done immaculately in a sky blue, white striped wool. There are no marks or signs of wear to the fabric. It’s been very lightly used. The chair itself is solid and sturdy, as are the legs – there are no areas of concern. Please browse our photos for an accurate sense of its outstanding condition.
