Smart Vintage 1960s Jentique Oak Bureau with Drawers & Writing Desk

Neat, efficient vintage bureaus come with considerable charm and these days they’re having something of a renaissance with increased demands for working from home. Less space-consuming than a conventional desk, they can be closed when the working day is done. Bureaus are also great options for kids’ / teenagers’ rooms to help them get organised with a dedicated but discreet work station. This 1960’s light oak bureau from renowned British furniture maker, Jentique, is a beauty and ticks all the boxes for sharp good looks and original design details along with practicality. Two drawers and a lower cupboard with a fixed shelf provide masses of storage and the pull down, locking hinged door create a desk platform. Pull up a chair and you’re set to focus and work.

Description

This original, vintage piece is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good – excellent, used condition. It has been thoroughly cleaned inside and out, and a natural beeswax polish applied to the external wood. Both drawers slide with ease, feature dovetail joints and have clean, tidy interiors with only light signs of wear. The top desk section features pigeon holes and two further small drawers. Again, it’s in good clean, tidy order throughout and the hinges for the pull down door are in good working order too. The top section has a lock and key. There are some very minor scuffs and knocks to the exterior wood surfaces but overall this is light and minor. Please see our photos. It’s very well put together, solid and stable including when the pull-down desk in place. The four legs have the original, adjustable brass feet securely in place. Sadly the Jentique maker’s mark is no longer in place but we have sold these pieces before and we attribute it with confidence.
