Smart British Midcentury Vintage Teak Bureau
Vintage bureaus have enjoyed a renaissance in recent times as they provide the perfect, compact work station for those finding themselves working from home with more frequency. This late 1960’s, British-made one from S Form is particularly handsome as well as practical, and it comes in superb condition. We’re not sure it’s previous owner did much work at it! Featuring a generous double cupboard with an internal shelf, a large drawer and further storage with pigeon holes inside the drop-down top section, this could be the perfect hot desk for home-working. Bureaus are also an excellent ‘desk’ option for children’s bedrooms for when they hit homework age. Slimline and with a discreet, practical design, this won’t intrude into the room and take up the space of a conventional desk. Its neutral wood tones and unfussy design mean it will fit right in.
This is an original piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in overall excellent, used condition. We’ve cleaned the bureau and applied a light beeswax polish. The drop-down bureau door work well and the sliding arms are in good, mechanical order. The door has a working lock and key. The interior wood on the bureau section is a little marked here and there as you’d expect with this desk area but there is nothing specific to call out. The large drawer slides with ease and again the interior wood is clean and in good order. The two cupboard doors open and close in alignment and there is a height-adjustable shelf. We can see no repairs and the bureau is well made, solid and sturdy. There are some very minor scuffs and scratches from use here and there to the exterior wood but nothing specific to call out. The original S Form label can be seen inside the door. Please browse our photos for an accurate sense of the overall superb condition.
