Set of Six Vintage AH McIntosh Teak Dining Chairs

AH McIntosh of Kirkcaldy, Fife, was a Scottish furniture maker established in 1869 with a long history for making fine quality pieces.  Their reputation was quickly established because of their commitment to high quality wood and high quality craftsmanship. Hugely influenced by the emerging MCM movement and their Scandinavian contemporaries, they continued to champion fine quality with this new design aesthetic, making beautiful, clean-lined, flowing pieces. These chairs show this off beautifully – quietly elegant and understated, they are design classics that transcend trends. The upholstery might not be to your taste but this could be easily and cost-effectively updated.

Description

These original, vintage chairs are ‘sold as seen’. They are in very good – excellent, used condition. We have cleaned the wooden frames thoroughly and applied a natural wax. The upholstered seat pads have been steam cleaned but there are some minor marks and faded patches, as shown in our photos. The seat pads are in good order though and it would be an easy, simple job to recover them. The wooden frames have some very minor scuffs but nothing to call out – they are in excellent order with no wobbles or signs of repair. Sadly the maker’s labels are no longer in place, most likely covered or removed when upholstered in the striped wool (originally it would have been black vinyl).
