Set of Four Ercol Model 875 Quaker Dining Chairs

These arched, bow seatback, ‘Quaker’ chairs are amongst the most elegant of Ercol’s extensive dining chair range and were originally produced from the late 1950s to the mid 1980s. These date from the 1970s-1980s and are in great original order. These chairs are fine-looking pieces made from solid elm and beech ‘blond’ woods with tall, spindled backs, and generous seat height and width, providing much comfort for long, slow dinner parties. Acquired as a matching set of four, there is wear and tear but it’s minimal and doesn’t detract from their appeal one jot.

Description

These are original, vintage chairs that are ‘sold as seen’. They are  in overall very good, used condition. We have given the chairs a thorough clean and applied a natural beeswax polish but otherwise they retain their original factory finish and so there are marks and scuffs from use. Please browse our photos for an accurate sense of this wear and their condition. We would categorise the wear and tear as minor and superficial. One of the great things about Ercol is that it’s solid wood so if you wanted to strip the original finish and then wax / varnish them you have the option to do this but in our view the wear didn’t warrant this invasive process. The gold Ercol sticker can be found underneath the seats dating them to the 1970s – early 1980s.
