Set of Four 1970s Danish Bentwood Stacking Chairs

If you’re a fan of mix and match style with a soft spot for industrial design, this set of four Danish bent plywood stacking chairs in great original condition will appeal. They are ideal as good value family dining chairs, as occasional chairs for when extra guests arrive, or even as patio chairs in the summer for al fresco evenings. We like their silhouette and worn-in good looks very much and we like too that they are full size chairs – often stacking chairs are smaller.  And of course they can be neatly stowed away when their work is done.

Description

This original, vintage set of four chairs is ‘sold as seen’. Overall, they are in good – very good, used condition. The chairs have been cleaned with oil applied to the plywood seat and backs. All of the chairs have plastic feet caps in place. The contoured plywood seats are in really good condition for their age, with only one notable area of damage, as shown in the photograph. Other than this, there are minor scuffs and marks to the wood. The silver metal legs / frames also carries marks, scuffs and decolouration but we rather like this patina! It gives them an authentic industrial feel. The chairs are solidly made, sturdy and robust with no repairs or wobbles. Sadly there is no maker’s mark on the base of the seats but these were imported directly from Denmark and date from the early 1970s.
