Rare Vintage Midcentury G Plan Fresco Seven Drawer Tallboy
An incredibly rare, seven drawer tallboy from G Plan, produced as part of their Fresco range, designed by V.B. Wilkins. The six drawer G Plan Fresco tallboy was widely produced during the 1960s and early 70s, and remains a popular piece of vintage furniture today, due to its solid construction and sleek design. This seven drawer version is similar to the standard version, except the plinth at the base has been replaced with a smaller seventh drawer. We have not seen one of these models before now, and it would seem they were only produced for a very short time during the 1960s. This chest of drawers has been beautifully constructed in solid teak with dovetail joints on all the drawers, along with details such as the gently rounded edges and wide drawer handles. The Fresco range has timeless appeal and this is a rare opportunity to acquire a hard-to-find piece from this popular range.
Description
This original, used piece is ‘sold as seen’. It’s in very good, vintage condition with minor signs of wear and tear. We have cleaned and polished the piece using a natural wax polish. All seven drawers slide with ease, feature dovetail joints and are in clean, tidy order internally. There are some minor, superficial scuffs and mark to the exterior wood but as you can see from our photos, these aren’t particularly noticeable and certainly doesn’t detract from the appeal of the piece. Given its age and use it to be expected. The chest of drawers is sturdy and solidly made as you would expect from vintage G Plan. We can see no repairs. The G Plan sticker is affixed inside the top drawer. Please browse our photos for a good sense of condition and wood colouration.
