Rare Kai Kristiansen Tall Teak Chest of Drawers
A rare chest of drawers, made by renowned Danish midcentury designer, Kai Kristiansen, in the late 1950s, this is a collector’s piece but don’t let that be a concern. This is furniture designed to be used, not just admired! It’s an expertly constructed, solid piece, ready for years of use. Polished and restored, the perfectly matched teak grain of the wood across the drawer fronts is sublime. What sets this piece apart is the gently arced front. This softens the hard lines and gives it an overall elegance.

Although no maker’s mark on the piece, this chest of drawers is well-documented as a Kai Kristiansen design so we add this provenance with confidence. This is a particularly rare piece as it’s seven drawers, not the more commonly seen six drawer model. Sadly there is no key to lock the top drawer.
The piece is in excellent vintage condition. There are minor marks and scratches, on the top and on some of the drawer fronts but as you can see from the photos these are minimal, considering its vintage age. The drawers themselves are in good order and slide back and forth with ease. A couple have pen marks in them but again these marks are minor. The tapered legs and base plinth are both solid and sturdy. All the handles are in tact with no wobbles or issues.
