Pair of Antique 1930s Dark Oak Filing Cabinet Drawers
We believe these grand, dark oak filing cabinets date from the early 20th century, most likely around the 1920s-1930s. They’re such stately pieces with much character and vintage charm. With deep drawers, originally meant for important papers, they could be repurposed in any room in a vintage-inspired interior, serving as an unusual and quirky talking point. Sold as a pair, each one some in three sections with slot on top of each other. The sides are panelled and the drawer fronts feature cast brass handles and name plates.

Description
These vintage pieces that are ‘sold as seen’. They are in good, used condition. We have cleaned these cabinets, applying a natural wax but we haven’t completed a full restoration, primarily because we very much like the wear and tear these historic ‘working’ pieces have picked up over the decades. It’s part of their character and charm. The long drawers all slide with ease and inside each drawer there is a moveable file retainer mechanism to keep paperwork in order – please refer to our photos. Each cabinet is comprised of these separate sections – base, middle and top – and they simply slot into position on top of each other. They are extremely stable and solidly constructed. The handles and name plates are brass. As you can see in our pictures that are knocks, scratches and marks all over, including some deterioration to the oak veneer on the sides and the top. . There are some signs of historic woodworm on one of the side panels but as a precautionary measure, we’ve treated this. There is no maker’s mark as such although the file mechanisms inside state ‘ANGUS PATENT’. The two top drawers still have the alphabetical cardboard file sleeves in place.
