Original Vintage Ercol ‘Yellow Dot’ Children’s Stacking Chair

Originally designed for use as a child’s school seat, Ercol’s stacking chair range, which started in 1963, came in different sizes, denoted by a coloured dot at the back – yellow, red, green and blue. This one is the yellow dot design and it’s super sweet. This chair in particular is something special because it’s in outstanding, original condition. It’s almost as it it hasn’t been used at all in 50+ years. Designed to be particularly solid and sturdy to take the rough and tumble of kids, dot chairs are usually heavily scarred and bashed but not so here. Just very minor, light signs of use. It can of course be used as a children’s chair still but it is also quite simply, a fine-looking, eye-catching object of beauty. It can be put to good use as a side table by favourite seats, be a bedside stand or sit next to the bath in a country cottage for lotions and potions. Or it make a nice spot to display a houseplant or ceramic piece perhaps.  It is a lovely vintage thing with considerable charm.
