Original Midcentury G Plan VB Wilkins Drop-leaf Teak Dining Table
A VB Wilkins-designed dining table as part of his collaboration with G Plan on their ever-popular Fresco range. This came to market in 1969 and combines beautiful, richly toned teak and afromosia woods with a practical design for the modern home. Extended, this rectangular table can comfortably seat six but when collapsed, folding in the gate-legs underneath, it can be neatly stowed against a wall, taking up minimal room. Normally family dining tables like this comes heavily scarred with life but this table is in fantastic condition. It’s unfussy design means that it can partner with any style of dining chair, not necessarily G Plan originals.
This original, vintage piece is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good – excellent, used condition. It has been thoroughly cleaned and a natural wax polish applied. There is a gate-leg mechanism underneath to extend the two leaves – simply pull these out to the stopper and the extension leaf rests on top. You can opt to have both out or just one side. Superbly constructed in a mix of teak and afromosia seen across G Plan’s Fresco range, it’s in fantastic condition with very few signs of wear and tear which is unusual for a family dining table – it’s been well cared for. The G Plan sticker is still affixed on the underside of the table. can be seen inside the top drawer.
