Original Vintage Norwegian Brown Leather Bentwood Chair
A refreshing change of design from the more familiar Scandinavian bentwoods we see, this vintage Norwegian lounge chair is particularly handsome with its closed loop, trapezium-shaped sides. There are other unusual design flourishes like the on-show leather straps that moor the seat canvas in place at the back with the dowel pegs. It’s a very beautifully designed piece of furniture and you can see that much careful consideration was put into its form and construction.
Description
This is an original, used piece that is ‘sold as seen’. This armchair has been well looked after and is in excellent, vintage condition. We have lightly cleaned and polished the wooden frame with a natural beeswax polish. Likewise, the brown leather cushion (it’s a single, sectioned cushion) has been cleaned with leather balm. The cushion is in excellent order with plump inner foams and a working zip. There is of course the characteristic wrinkling, along with some minor surface marks that you would expect with vintage leather but nothing specific to call out. The canvas and strapping underneath the cushion are in excellent order. Similarly, the dark bentwood frame is in excellent order and shows only the lightest wear and tear, in line with is age. Sadly there is no marker’s mark but we believe it originates from Norway and was made in the 1970s.
