Original Midcentury 1960’s VB Wilkins G Plan Sideboard

A collector’s piece, this grand teak sideboard, designed by Victor Wilkins for G Plan in the 1960’s is stunning. Thoughtfully designed to be a functional ‘working’ item of furniture, it’s the richly patterned teak wood that takes centre stage so practicality and good looks work in harmony… and this was at the heart of the mid century aesthetic. This is a large, substantial piece at over two metres long but the curves of the handles and the legs add an elegance so that it’s not cumbersome. It’s a very expertly balanced piece of design.

Description

Featuring two two-door cupboards, each with a height-adjustable shelf in, and a set of four central drawers with the top drawer sectioned for cutlery, this offers much storage for a dining room, family space or lounge.

This item is in fantastic vintage condition with very few signs of wear. Its external surfaces have been waxed and polished. There are no significant marks or scuffs to the finish to highlight – please see our photos for an accurate sense of the excellent condition of this piece. We’ve spotted one minor repair on the inside door of the left hand cupboard – this is shown in photos. It’s been well-done, isn’t visible from front (it’s barely visible on the inside!) and it’s solid and stable. The original G Plan sticker is still affixed inside the door. This is a solid, heavy piece of furniture.
