Original Mid-century 1970s G Plan Fresco Eight Drawer Sideboard
A classic slice of British midcentury design from G Plan’s ever-popular Fresco range of the 1970s. This sideboard offers masses of practical storage for the modern home with eight generous drawers for stowing away. Made in teak and afromosia, the latter creating the distinctive dark frame around the front and the signature Fresco drawer handles, it’s ever so handsome with outstanding patination across the drawer fronts. With neater proportions than a conventional MCM sideboard, it’s a more versatile piece that will sit comfortably in a smaller room from lounge to family room to bedroom.
Description
This original, vintage table is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good, used condition. We have thoroughly cleaned the piece inside and out, applying a natural wax polish to the exterior surfaces. There was a small area on the top which we have treated to disguise – it’s still faintly visible but significantly improved. Please refer to our photo. The eight drawers are well-crafted with dovetail joints, sliding with ease and with clean, tidy interiors. There are some very minor scuffs and indentations to the external wood but this is minimal, barely noticeable and in line with the piece’s age. We have shown some light paint marks on the lower right drawer front – as they are only visible under close scrutiny, we didn’t want to risk using something abrasive to remove them. This sideboard / double drawer unit is sturdy and well-made as you would expect from G Plan and there are no signs of repair. Sadly the red logo label is no longer affixed inside the top drawer but this is well documented item that we can confidently attribute to G Plan.
