Original Large Model 455 Vintage Ercol Solid Elm Windsor Sideboard
If you’re looking for a handsome, expertly crafted, vintage sideboard for your home, then you’d be hard pushed to find something more elegant, more classic and more versatile than Ercol’s large, Model 455 sideboard, made as part of its extensive Windsor range in solid elm with a blond finish. With Ercol’s signature recessed handles and gentle curved contours across the flat surfaces, the patination of the wood works in perfect harmony with the design. A fine British piece of design with appeal that endures, making it a superb investment.
Description
This original, vintage piece is ‘sold as seen’. It’s in very good – excellent, used condition. It features two large cupboards at either side, both with a height adjustable shelf inside with all the original pegs in place. The interior wood is clean and tidy. There are three central drawers of equal size that slide with ease. The top drawer features a removeable cutlery tray with dividers. The sideboard features Ercol’s signature open dovetail joints on the sides and the castors on the bottom are original, in excellent condition and roll with ease. We have cleaned and polished this item using a natural wax polish, but the original finish has been left in tact. The top and sides carry some minor signs of wear, including some faint, slightly lighter patches on the top surface (see our photos – we think it’s sunlight fading) and a small scrape on the side end (again, shown in a photo), but this wear is in line with the piece’s age. The blue Ercol label can be seen inside the door, dating this sideboard to the late 1960s / early 1970s. Please browse our photos for an accurate sense of it’s superb order.
