Original Ercol Tall Corner Cabinet in Solid Elm

Here is a fine example of a tall blonde corner cabinet from Ercol’s Windsor range, constructed in solid British Elm and produced in the 1980s. These cabinets offer discreet storage and display for dull room corners that need some attention. The lower cupboard has a height adjustable shelf inside and above are two fixed shelves with plate grooves but suitable for books or any treasured items. This is a beautifully crafted piece of furniture in excellent condition with no marks or scratches, that looks as good now as it did when it came out of the Ercol factory. These corner cabinets are still made by Ercol, retailing at over £2000 new so buying second-hand is much better value as well as being the more sustainable alternative.

Description

This is an original vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in excellent, used condition. We have lightly cleaned the wooden surfaces but have otherwise left alone as it’s in such good order. Fitting neatly into the corner of your room, this cabinet is a great way of using space that’s often left redundant. It has two fixed display shelves above, and the storage cupboard below contains one height-adjustable shelf.  The recessed shapes on the door handle beneath and dovetail joints are indicative of the attention to detail and skilled craftsmanship for which Ercol is renowned. This model was produced in the 1980s, and although Ercol still produce a variant of this cabinet, it is no longer made in British Elm and has glass shelves. This presents a great opportunity to own a classic piece of high-end British craftsmanship. The Ercol label can be seen inside the cupboard door.
