Original Danish Midcentury Oak Sideboard by Carlo Jensen for Poul Hundevad

We’re a little bit in love with this clean-lined, elegant sideboard. It comes with an excellent, Danish midcentury pedigree too, designed by Carlo Jensen for Poul Hundevad in the 1960s. With neat proportions compared to a more conventional sideboard, its design is simplicity itself but it’s expertly made and thought through to serve in the modern home. The large sliding doors, the elongated, oval handles and the light oak are the standout features.  It today’s home it would make an excellent TV unit, providing ample storage.

Description

This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good condition. It has been cleaned and polished. The two cupboard doors slide with ease and both have internal shelves that can be height adjusted with all pegs are present. Overall there are some general minor marks and scuffs but this is in line with its age. Specific areas to note are a repair to the veneer on the front top edge and also on the top right edge, the veneer had also sustained some knocks. We have completed repairs here so it’s barely noticeable but please refer to our photos for close ups of both of these areas. The cabinet sits on its original legs. It’s a well-made piece with provenance, and various labels and stamps are still in place.
