Original Danish Midcentury Dark Brown Leather Chair

What a cool chair with low and lean, chiselled good looks. Its design is unusual with a partially exposed dark wood frame at the sides and back. The leather looks black but in fact it’s a very deep brown and it’s in fantastic condition. With a sprung section underneath the seat cushion and the perfect tilt, it’s supremely comfortable. It hails from Denmark and dates from the late sixties / early seventies. A handsome piece of Scandi midcentury design.

Description

This vintage chair is ‘sold as seen’ in its original, used condition. It is in very good order. We have thoroughly cleaned the leather upholstery and applied a nourishing leather balm. The wooden legs and exposed frame has also been cleaned and wax applied. The two cushions are in very good order with working zips, secure buttons and plump foam inners.  Likewise, the fixed leather upholstery on the main frame is also is very good order. There is a small tear in the finishing cloth underneath the cushions. We have applied strong fabric tape to this area to stabilise it and prevent further deterioration. It doesn’t show at all.  There are wrinkles and marks as you would expect with vintage leather that’s 50-60 years old but these add to its appeal, not detract. Please browse our chairs for a good sense of its order. It is structurally solid and sound, a very well-made chair. Although no maker’s mark, this was imported directly from Denmark and it dates from the late 1960s / early 1970s.
