Original Danish Hurup Mobler Black Leather Two Seater Sofa
This handsome, late vintage, attributed Danish sofa is a great catch. It’s in fantastic condition and has been beautifully designed with low and lean good looks. Made by Hurup Mobler, this sofa design, inspired by Borge Morgensen, never goes out of style. It’s a timeless classic and this sofa will partner well with other midcentury pieces or indeed, seating from different periods. It’s also a really versatile couch for a family space where black leather is a hardwearing, practical choice. Its low profile means it would fit neatly in a bay window or alcove.
Description
This original, vintage sofa is ‘sold as seen’. It’s in very good – excellent, used condition. We have washed the leather and applied a neutral, nourishing leather balm. All six cushions are in fantastic order with plump inners and working zips. One of the seat cushions has a small dimple on its surface. In our experience, over time and with use it will even out. It most likely occurred with something pressing into the cushion on its journey to the UK from Denmark. Please refer to our photo – it’s not very noticeable nor does it detract from the appeal of the sofa. The fixed upholstery on the main frame is also in very good order with no areas of concern. Overall the wear and tear is very light / minimal and confined to the sofa’s corners and cushion front edges. The finishing cloth used to cover the underside of the frame has been removed. This is often the case as it’s torn away so the frame structure can be checked. Obviously this doesn’t show as it’s the bottom of the sofa. The frame itself is solid and stable with no wobbles or joint concerns. It’s very well-made from an established, highly regarded Danish furniture manufacturer, Hurup Mobler. The maker’s mark can be seen on the side and we believe it dates from the 1990s. Please browse our photos for an accurate sense of the super condition of this fine sofa.
