Original British Retro Thorn EMI 1980’s Tall White Uplighter Floor Lamp
A bold, striking statement floor lamp in off-white fibreglass and plastic that dates from the early 1980’s but perhaps looks as if it’s originated from a 1970’s sci-fi film set! It’s certainly grand and at a second glance you can see an Art Deco influence in the mix too, especially in profile. A talking-point light like this does needs a large room, as it’s a big piece but its column-like stem and exaggerated curves certainly give it a dramatic presence that could be just what an open-plan modern interior needs.
This original restored floor light is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good condition. It is a vintage piece however so there are some minor scuffs, marks and a little discolouration. The base itself is weighted to provide stability and there are some minor scratches and dents to the finish. When on the red on/off switch illuminates too. The original warning sticker is still affixed to the shade and the maker’s label can be seen under the base. This lamp has been fully refurbished, rewired and PAT tested. It comes supplied with an energy efficient bulb. Please refer to our photos for a good sense of the condition. We would like to point out that our full height shots appear to show fading of colour. This isn’t the case at all – the off-white is a consistent colour on the base, stem and lamphead but it’s height made it difficult to show this in full. The close-up pictures give an accurate representation of colour.
We have a further two matching lamps awaiting restoration so if you are interested in acquiring more than one please get in touch for a discounted price.
