Original 1960s Ercol ‘Windsor’ Model 383 Drop Leaf Plank Dining Table

A neat, practical dining table from Ercol, that’s become an iconic piece of British mid-century design from Lucian Ercolani. This is an early model dating from the 1960s in very good condition. The elm table top has been carefully restored so the original patina is back to its former glory and looks stunning. The splayed legs are beech and these Ercol ‘plank’ tables are characterised by their softly tapered, elm table top that gently slope off, and the sharply angled beech legs.  It’s a considered, expertly balanced piece of design of ‘soft and hard’ lines that work beautifully together. A timeless design that never goes out of fashion, an Ercol piece of furniture is for life.

Description

This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good, used condition. The solid elm table top has been thoughtfully restored with light sanding, re-coated with oil and then polished to give a hard-wearing, durable finish. The beech legs have been lightly cleaned with a natural wax polish. The drop leaves are extended with Ercol’s simple pull mechanism on the underside and these arms move with ease and are in good order. The table underside has been lightly cleaned but there are some superficial marks from use here (finger marks, etc) but as they are underneath they do not show. There are no repairs or signs of damage.  The original blue ‘This is an Ercol production’ sticker can be seen on the underside, dating it to the 1960s. With the leaves down, it’s a compact piece that will tuck neatly away. When required it extends to a generous 139cm in length.
