Original 1960s Danish Aage Christiansen for Eran ‘Matador’ Sofa in Brown Leather

An attributed Danish design classic – the iconic ‘Matador’ sofa designed by Aage Christiansen for ERAN in the 1960s. From its expansive, ski-slope, sweeping arms and perfectly tilted back to its superbly comfortable, thick cushions with their signature stitched leather detail, this is a generous leather couch with bags of lived-in vintage charm. In a neutral deep brown leather, it will mix in easily with other seating of different styles and colours. Leather is also a practical choice for a busy, family household as it’s robust, cleans easily and gets better with age.

Description

This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in overall very good-excellent, used condition. We have cleaned the sofa and applied a natural leather balm in places. The six cushions are in excellent order with plump inners and working zips. There are some minor wrinkles and marks to the leather on the seat cushions but this is as you might expect. The fixed leather upholstery is in very good order, as is the finishing cloth under the cushions. There are scuffs and marks to the leather on the sofa’s extremities, such as the top back corners and back length where it’s been pushed against a wall.  Please browse our photos where we’ve flagged some of the marks to the leather upholstery but we believe these are minimal, superficial (no tears or holes) and in line with the piece’s age and function. The sofa is really solid and sturdy, it’s a superbly constructed piece that’s really very comfortable. The solid teak legs screw into position.
