Midcentury Vintage Small Oak Bureau with Glazed Shelves
These vintage bureaus have enjoyed something of a renaissance this year with the rise and rise of home working. They present a good option for space too small for a conventional desk or for someone who only occasionally needs a dedicated spot to work. This slimline one packs a lot into its form with the traditional drop-door writing desk, two glazed book shelves and multiple sections for stowing papers and stationery inside. It’s unfussy design and golden wood tones make it a neat, discreet piece.
Description
This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good, used condition. It is solidly made and sturdy with no wobbles. The glass doors are in order and slide in their runners with ease. The drop-down door is also in very good order as are the small compartments inside. The lock works but requires a little patience – there’s a knack! There are some scuffs /marks to the inside door which forms the ‘writing desk’ area when down. These are minor. Otherwise the exterior and interior wood is in good order. Sadly there is no maker’s mark but the design leads us to believe it was most likely made in the late sixties / early seventies.
