Midcentury Stag Double Bank ‘Cantata’ Chest of Drawers / Dressing Table

Stag made fantastic Scandinavian-influenced, every-day furniture throughout the mid-century under the design tutelage of John and Sylvia Reid, and later, Ronald Carter. This double bank chest of drawers is surely one of the most practical bedroom pieces, offering tremendous amounts of storage in different sizes with four large and four smaller drawers side by side. Expertly made with the signature wooden handles, constructed to last a lifetime and beyond, it comes in fantastic, original condition. This particular model is seldom available these days and what’s more, it comes with the back mirror so can serve as a dressing table too. The generous mirror sits off-centre and is easily screwed in place.

Description

This is an original, vintage chest of drawers that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in overall very good, used condition. We have checked and cleaned it, inside and out, and applied a natural beeswax polish to the exterior surfaces but have otherwise left the original finish alone as it’s in such great order. It’s been taken care of. All eight drawers slide with ease, are beautifully made with dovetail joins and have clean, tidy interiors. All handles are securely attached. There are just very light signs of wear and tear on the external surfaces. Do browse our photos for an accurate sense of this. The piece comes supplied with its original mirror for use as a dressing table. If you wished to add this, it simply and easily screws to the back of the chest. The mirror is in very good order too and when in place can be angled at the bottom. The original Stag label is in the top left drawer and the piece dates from the 1960s.
