Midcentury G Plan Fresco Teak Sideboard
The appeal of vintage G Plan sideboards continues and it’s no wonder. They are such well-made, handsome pieces with practicality in mind. This more compact model from G Plan’s Fresco range has had tapered legs added along the way, replacing the original plinth, but this keeps it modern and it keeps it ‘light’ and less cumbersome. With two cupboards and a generous drawer, this can be put to good use in a busy, family home, providing ample storage.
This original, used piece is ‘sold as seen’. It’s in very good, vintage condition. We have cleaned the sideboard and applied a natural beeswax polish. Originally this sideboard would’ve have sat on a base plinth but as you can see this has been removed and tapered, solid wood legs put in its place. This actually give it a more contemporary feel and the modification has been well done. As you would expect with G Plan, it’s a well-made item that’s superbly constructed. All doors move with ease with closures in good order. The drawer slides with ease too. The drawer is sectioned and has been lined with green felt, not the original finish but it’s nonetheless tidy and clean. All interior wood is clean and tidy, and the side cupboard features a height-adjustable shelf. There are some minor scuffs to the exterior wood but nothing to call out other than an area of sun fading on the top surface. This is shown in our photos and isn’t particularly noticeable. Sadly the red G Plan label is nowhere to be seen but this is an instantly recognisable design that we have sold and seen many times before. A fine quality piece of home furniture.
