Midcentury Danish Black Leather ‘Matador’ Chair by Aage Christiansen for Eran Mobler
An attributed Danish design classic – the iconic ‘Matador’ chair designed by Aage Christiansen for Eran Mobler in the 1960s and in near immaculate condition. So called because of those expansive, sweeping arms, it has a perfectly tilted back and it’s superbly comfortable, sprung- seat front, given extra bounce. Its profile is low, lean and masculine, with a generous seat depth that makes it really loungy with bags of vintage charm. Destined to become someone’s favourite chair, it will add instant classic cool to any room.
Description
These is a used, vintage chair that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in excellent, original condition. The chair has been thoroughly cleaned and the black leather nourished with leather balm. It’s soft and supple. The two cushions are in very good order with plump inners and working zips. Likewise, the fixed leather upholstery on the chair frame is also in excellent condition. There are some minor scuffs as you would expect with leather of this age – please refer to our photos. The nature of leather means it wrinkles and ‘bruises’ over time with use but this adds to the character of the vintage leather. The finishing canvas under the leather cushions is also in good condition. The frame is structurally sound and sturdy and the teak legs are in excellent condition. Overall, this vintage piece is in excellent order. Please refer to our photos for an accurate sense of the exceptional condition.
