Midcentury 1960s Stag ‘Cantata’ Teak Bedside Cabinet by Ron Carter
Ron Carter followed on from celebrated design duo, John and Sylvia Reid, at British manufacturer, Stag, in 1965 and designed for the brand into the 1970s. He continued their legacy of creating popular, affordable but stylish furniture, matching good quality and modern home design. This single bedside table features a spacious, open lower cabinet and a neat top drawer for stowing overnight essentials. This piece, from Carter’s first range for Stag, the Cantata range, has the signature, crisp linear features, designed so that individual pieces could be set closely alongside each other. It’s very well made with look that have stood the test of time and it’s in fantastic condition. A fine piece of British midcentury.
This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in overall very good – excellent, used condition. We have thoroughly cleaned the cabinet and applied a natural beeswax polish to the exterior wood surfaces. The drawer slides with ease, features dovetail joints and the interior wood is in good, clean order. The exterior wood is overall in very good order with very minor knocks and scuffs here and there, as you would expect with a used, vintage piece of this age. There is an official Stag maker’s mark can be seen on the side of the top drawer.
