Midcentury 1960s Ottoman Leather Stool by Ingmar Relling for Westnofa

An original large ottoman stool in soft, supply mid-brown leather, designed by Ingmar Relling for Westnofa in the 1960s. It was made to complement his iconic Siesta chair but the size of this stool and its clean, neutral design means it serves as a standalone piece, either has a foot rest in front of any favourite chair, or an extra occasional seat. It’s in fantastic condition. The cushion simply rests in place on top of the dark bentwood frame.

Description

This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good – excellent, used condition. The leather has been thoroughly cleaned and nourishing leather balm applied. The wooden frame has also been cleaned and a natural beeswax polish applied. The cushion is in excellent order with a working zip, secure buttons and plump inner. There are of course wrinkles and minor superficial marks but that’s the very appeal of vintage leather. Please refer to our photos. The cord that fastens the canvas to the wooden frame is also in excellent order – it’s secure and shows no signs of fraying. There is a small area of wear on one of the edges of the canvas, shown in our photo. It doesn’t show with the cushion in place, nor does it affect the stool’s use, it’s just some light age-related wear. Sadly the Westnofa sticker is no longer affixed underneath but this is a well-documented piece and we state with confidence it’s an Ingmar Relling design for Westnofa.
