Large Vintage 1960s Teak High Sideboard by Roseberry

As midcentury furniture goes, this is a heavyweight contender in every sense! A very substantial, tall sideboard with almost every kind of storage in play – drawers, shelves, cupboards – along with a drinks cabinet, bureau and bookcase. It’s grand, handsome and multi-functional with everything the modern home could need in one piece, in one place. Made by Roseberry Furniture, we can find out very little about the maker but we believe it was likely part of B&S Goodman. The design and construction date the piece to the early 1960s. If you have the space then this would look magnificent as a focal point in an open plan room. It’s also worth noting that for all it is tall and wide, its widest depth is shallow at 38cm.

Description

This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good – very good, used condition. We have checked and thoroughly cleaned the piece inside and out, and applied a natural wax polish to the exterior wood for protection and to restore shine but otherwise the finish is original. All interiors are clean and tidy. All hinges, closures, sliding door runners are in very good, working order. All handles are securely attached, doors in good order and the drawers slide easily – they are well-made with dovetail joints. The two central shelves can be removed. The left hand shelf is adjustable. The drinks cabinet features a further cut-away glass shelf inside. The bureau features pigeon hole storage and a further small drawer. There is light wear inside this section as shown. The fall-door of the bureau has sustained some faded patches / discolouration to the finish at some point – it’s not overly noticeable especially in the overall context of the piece but do refer to our photos. There are some scuffs, marks and scratches on the external surfaces but nothing major, wear we would categorise as ‘light’ and in line with its considerable age. There are some small blemishes on the central shelves, there is a scratch on the left hand end and small knock on the back bottom corner. These are shown across our photos so do browse them to get an accurate sense of the overall great condition of this vintage piece. The Rosebury furniture label can be seen inside the drinks cabinet. It’s an extremely well-made, substantial piece that’s solid and stable.

NOTE: This piece is extremely heavy and large. It cannot be disassembled. It’s unlikely it would go above ground floor level. Please do check measurements carefully!
