Large 14 Inch Vintage Japanese Kokeshi Doll – Signed

Distinguished by their single wooden body and head, Japanese kokeshi dolls were considered to be good luck talismans as well as child’s toys. Usually made from mizuki or cherry wood, they are hand-painted with bold brush strokes. This is a large kokeshi doll at 14 inches in height and it’s a particularly fine example in wonderful condition. It’s large enough to be a floor-standing ornament and it looks fantastic partnered with other kokeshi dolls. She features a of beautiful pattern of chrysanthemums in red, greens, whites and violets on body front and her head features a large red bow.
