Early Midcentury British Vintage Solid Oak Chest of Drawers

A fine, British heritage chest of drawers that’s solidly constructed in dark oak and with lots of practical storage. Dating from the 1940s, it’s seen much life but it’s fantastic condition is a testament to how well it is. With brass plate handles, its look is more traditional with some farmhouse charm in the mix but its design is neutral enough to partner with pieces from other periods.

Description

This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good condition. We have given the piece a careful clean and beeswax polish, but nothing too invasive to ensure the original finish and aged patina is preserved. The three drawers slide with ease and the internal woodwork is clean and in good order. They are constructed with dovetail joints and have brass plate handles. The external wood does have scuffs and marks on its surfaces but these are minor and are part of its history, as you would expect with a vintage piece. The chest of drawers is really well made, solid and sturdy with no signs of repair. It’s made from solid dark oak. Sadly there is no maker’s mark but we believe it to be British in origin and given its style and construction, we believe it dates from the 1940s. Please refer to our photos for an accurate sense of super antique condition.
