Grand Vintage Danish Tall Black Leather ‘Gentlemens’ Armchair

A stately, classic Danish winged armchair with a tall back and sharp, chiselled good looks. It’s a rather imposing, grand piece with generous proportions that envelop you when you relax into it. The ideal chair for a study or snug, perfect for curling up in with a favourite book and a scotch. Equally, this will mix well with other seats in a mixed style lounge or family space. And of course, vintage leather is a practical option for what is destined to become someone’s favourite chair. It’s in fantastic order with plump cushions, supple leather upholstery and solid, light oak legs.

Description

This original vintage chair is ‘sold as seen’. It’s in excellent, used condition. We have washed the leather upholstery and applied a natural wax to the legs. The three cushions are in excellent order – working zips, plump inners and no areas of concern. The top head rest cushion secures in place with heavy duty Velcro. We have replaced the original strips. The fixed upholstery on the frame is also in very good order, hugging the contours of the frame wonderfully. There are some rub marks on the outside of one of the wings – it’s not particularly noticeable and depending on where the chair is positioned may not show. We haven’t tried this ourselves but applying a black leather balm across this whole side panel may cover these marks. Overall there are some wrinkles and light signs of wear to the leather upholstery but this is very much what you would expect from vintage leather and part of its appeal. The finishing cloth underneath the cushions is in fantastic order too. The chair itself is well-made, solid and stable with no wobbles or joint concerns. Although no maker’s mark, this is a piece imported directly from Denmark. Please browse our photos for a good sense of the fantastic condition this chair is in.
