Vintage Phillips Theatre House Light / Floor Lamp

This is a giant, metal floor light is a real talking point with considerable retro charm. Made by Phillips in the 1970s, it’s a particularly large lamp, which would have originally been wall or ceiling mounted for use as theatre house lighting. We’ve carefully refurbished this lamp, maintaining its vintage integrity but to ensure it’s clean, functional and compliant for the today’s home. The lamp has been rewired and fitted with a conventional E27 bulb adaptor, 3amp plug and foot switch so it can be easily used as a unique floor standing uplighter.  We’ve added a soft-light bulb as we didn’t want it to seem like an enormous spotlight but depending on where you are considering positioning this piece, you might wish it to be brighter. It’s really quirky, slightly eccentric and a statement piece of lighting.

Description

This vintage, restored floor light is ‘sold as seen’. The overall condition of this piece is very good. As you can see from our photos the paintwork on the exterior of the lamp is chipped and scuffed in places, and the silver inner is also rather dented. However, other than gentle cleaning, we’ve left this superficial wear well alone as we feel its part of this light’s history and former life, not to be wiped out. We feel it adds to its charm, not detracts. The light has been fully rewired with new grey fabric-coated flex and floor switch. It has been PAT-tested and updated for the modern UK home with a single UK 3 amp plug and supplied with warm-glow, energy efficient LED spotlight bulb. There are two hanging chains supplied with the lamp in case you should wish to hang it. Please refer to our photos for an overall sense of the condition.
