Ewa Värnamo Swedish 1950s Brass Double Spotlight Floor Lamp

A very rare example of a floor lamp by EWA Belysning of Värnamo in Sweden. During the 1950s they produced iconic desk lamps incorporating their trademark flexible metal arms, but this is the only time we’ve seen this design incorporated in an EWA floor lamp. The stand and brackets are brass, as are the fully flexible lamp arms. The lamps themselves are brass plated copper, with hammered aluminium inserts. They are simply stunning.

Description

The lamp is in excellent original condition. The brass plating has aged over 60 years giving the lamps a wonderful patina, including flashes of the reddish copper beneath the brass plating. The cast iron base of the lamp is stamped with the manufacturers mark ‘EWA’ and the model number G-1-9. It also has an ‘S’ label indicating it was made in Sweden.

This lamp has been fully refurbished, rewired with gold braided fabric cable and has been PAT tested. We also sourced and fitted new, solid brass knurled knobs for the adjustable lamp brackets as unfortunately these were missing from the original. As part of the refurbishment process it has been updated for the modern home, with two independent floor switches, one for each light, a single UK plug and comes supplied with warm-glow, Edison-style filament light bulbs.
