Midcentury Danish Erik Buch for Orum Møbler Teak Armchair #1
An exquisitely designed, super stylish armchair in solid teak with original black vinyl upholstery from the 1960’s, designed by renowned Danish furniture designer, Erik Buch, for Ørum Møbler. Unlike other Erik Buch dining chairs, such as the ‘Model 49’, or the later ‘Captain’s Chair’, this is a wider seated and more generously cushioned armchair, making it as comfortable as it is handsome. The chair features Buch’s trademark floating seat design, as well as the organically sculpted lines that make him stand out as one of the finest Scandinavian designers of the period. Erik Buch armchairs from this period were not produced in the same quantity as his dining chairs and as such it is rare to find one in such good condition.
This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in overall excellent, used condition. It has been thoroughly cleaned and polished. The frame is solid with no wobbles and there are no signs of any repairs. The teak finish is in excellent order, with only a few age related marks and scratches, the most noticeable being a small area on the back of the rear right leg (pictured). Likewise, the original black vinyl upholstery is in fantastic condition with no marks, scratches or tears. It really is a superbly crafted chair that’s been taken great care of.
