Vintage 1960s Ercol Model 409 Cheval Mirror Unit

Here’s an opportunity to purchase a piece of Ercol’s ‘Dressing Unit’ range in all its fantastic, original glory. Designed by Lucian Ercolani in the late 1950s, this elegant unit features a solid elm base with a generous drawer and glass vanity shelf, with a fully adjustable, three-quarter length mirror above. The unit is on shepherd casters, allowing it to be moved around with ease. This is a super rare item of Ercol furniture – a collector’s piece – which, with its stylish design and blonde wood finish, will be a real statement piece in any bedroom.

Description

This is an original piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in overall very good-excellent, used condition. We have given this piece a clean and applied a natural beeswax polish but have otherwise left the original finish alone as it’s in such outstanding condition. The blonde elm finish is in great order with only very minor scuffs and marks. The mirror is in perfect order and adjusts with ease. There has been a repair to the rear wooden mirror support. It is a solid repair that’s been well-done, and does not effect the use or look of the piece (the support is at the back of the mirror). This can be seen in the pictures. The original blue ‘Made in Ercol’ sticker is affixed to the base, dating it to the 1960s. We were also  delighted to find the original Ercol care tag with the piece, a good indicator of how well this item has been looked after. It also contains the original glass inset in the drawer. These will of course be included when it’s dismantled and packed for delivery. Please browse our photos for a good sense of this piece.
