Rare Vintage Ercol Model 430 Tall Cabinet / Bureau
A unique opportunity to own a very rare early model 430 Serving Cabinet. A predecessor to the more common model 469, this larger cabinet, with flatter frontage and overhangs to the top & base, was only produced for between 1958 and 1962, making it a much sought after early example of the Ercol Windsor range. Superbly crafted in solid elm, this writing bureau tall cabinet is in superb vintage condition. It features a fall, pull-down door, along with a spacious two door cabinet and large single drawer underneath. This versatile piece of furniture provides a lot of storage space and its clever, classic design means it’s not overtly a serving cabinet or writing bureau – it could be used in any room from kitchen to bedroom or study for whatever you need tidied away.
Description
This original, used piece is ‘sold as seen’. It’s in very good vintage condition with very few signs of wear. We have thoroughly cleaned the piece and polished it with a natural wax but have otherwise left the original finish alone. It features visible dovetail joints with the doors and fall door fitted with full length hinges. The top cupboard interior is sectioned and has two adjustable shelves. The lower two-door cupboard also has a single adjustable shelf. All door closures are in good working order. There is a full width drawer at the bottom and it sits on the original shepherd castors to give good mobility. There is a very small, pea sized area of damage (burn mark) on the top of the unit. Please see photos for further information. All interior wood is in excellent, clean order. Likewise, so is the external wood too, as you can see from our photos. Do browse through for an accurate sense of the original Ercol finish and overall superb condition. Unfortunately the item no longer carries the Ercol sticker but is unmistakably an Ercol Model 430.
