Elegant Vintage Metal Woven Rattan Conservatory Chair

This is such an unusual and elegant chair, destined for conservatory, bathroom, boudoir, a space there it can be appreciated and used occasionally. There is no maker’s mark or clue to date but the style and wear suggest it’s most likely a British-made, midcentury piece from the 1940s / 1950s. With a curvaceous, flowing design, it looks stunning from all sides. There is wear to the weave as you can see in our photos. There is aging to the metal too, but these are the very things that add to its appeal. A beautiful standalone piece.

Description

This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in overall good, used condition. We have gently washed the piece and dried it thoroughly. As you can see from our photos, there are a number of small breaks in the weave, however, after consulting with an upholsterer, this cannot be readily repaired without replacing it entirely. That said, the chair can be used, is functional, and cane isn’t fragile. It can be sat on used as an occasional piece. You may conclude you wish to replace the weave or stabilise it with discreet wire and / or glue, but we have opted to leave it as is. The chair frame is solid and sturdy. Again, you can see that the metal is flecked in places but we love this patination and have left well alone. Please refer to our photos for close-ups to get a sense of the overall condition.
